GROWERS

We offer a lot of significant services to the serious alfalfa seed growers.

GOOD PRODUCTION ADVICE:

There is a lot of off-label experimentation with minor crops like alfalfa seed. We all deal with the same issues – stand establishment, weed control, plant disease, bug control, harvest strategies. Our advice has been honed in the school of experience and tested on our farm first.

LH: Check - No Pardner

RH: One Application - Pardner in July

Mid July application of Pardner suppresses Canada thistle, sow thistle, canola, and sweet clover.

NEWSLETTERS:

We publish a grower newsletter every spring and fall. It includes production and marketing information on both alfalfa seed and leafcutter bees. The content includes lots of pictures and things we’ve learned on our farm to improve production. Alfalfa seed and leafcutter bee markets are both small and volatile. We do our best to look ahead to see the future of our industry, and pass that on to you.

PRODUCTION CONTRACTS:

We do production for seed companies in North America and offshore. They have an alfalfa variety that does well for them in their market, and they need seed production. We offer our growers:

  • Contracts with fixed and market based pricing.

  • You receive an extensive dockage analysis on your representative harvested sample.

  • A 50% advance is paid upon delivery of your seed.

  • We take delivery of all your contract alfalfa seed before the end of December.

  • Final settlement and payment in full is made before the end of April.

OPEN MARKET SEED:

If you have alfalfa seed that is not under contract to anyone, we want a chance to purchase it. After we complete an extensive test on your representative sample, we make you an offer that includes price, dockage, delivery date, and payment date. Normally, alfalfa seed is paid in full within 7 days of delivery.
